Burnie Brae

Burnie Brae is a Not-for-Profit organisation that opened in 1984 in Chermside, Brisbane. They offer a wide range of social, educational and recreational activities for people over 50. Additionally they offer a range of community services for aged persons and younger people with disabilities.

Their services are delivered based on a philosophy and culture of client choice, flexibility, functional independence and client-centred care.

CBA commenced working with the Burnie Brae Board in 2016 through a practical workshop and review of their governance processes and practices. This was followed by a significant project where we worked closely with CEO Kevin Rouse, the board and the executive team to facilitate the development of their current strategic plan.

Requirements

  • Facilitate strategic planning process
  • Facilitate governance training and development

Results

  • Strategic and operational planning processes developed and implemented
  • 5 year Strategic Plan developed, documented and approved
  • Governance Improvement Plan developed, documented and implemented. A range of governance tools and resources provided

In 2016 when Burnie Brae undertook to review its governance and planning strategies we appointed Community Business Australia to support the project.

The process was well planned and staged to meet our requirements. It was clear to all involved that Patrick Herd has significant experience in the community sector and we have no doubt that this knowledge has translated into the final product.

We are extremely satisfied with the outcomes we’ve achieved.

Kevin Rouse – CEO
