Sarina Aged Care

Sarina Aged Care is a not for profit organisation operating in Sarina, Queensland since 1991.

As a small community owned provider, Sarina Aged Care had worked hard to provide excellent services and create a strong financial position.

However, in the light of legislative and regulatory changes and increasing residents with complex

care needs, the Board considered it was time to seek out a new owner.

They sought a reputable provider with the size and scale to deal with the growing demands of operating aged care facilities.

CBA guided Sarina Aged Care through the phases of an acquisition, from preparation to completion:

Requirements

CBA brought together a handpicked team of specialist consultants including HR, Finance, Legal, Clinical Placement and Communications to ensure seamless project collaboration and delivery
CBA led the whole process including initial and final due diligence as well as recommendations for preferred partner aligned to agreed assessment criteria, transfer agreement and implementation of communications
Initial steps included establishing a Steering Committee, developing assessment criteria for a suitable partner, preparing an Expression of Interest pack and researching possible acquisition partners
In addition, CBA provided on site HR and clinical placement support

Results

Sarina Aged Care transferred ownership to Ozcare from 1^st July 2023 ensuring future access to high quality aged care services for the Sarina community
Ozcare was selected as the acquisition partner (from 6 potential providers) on the basis of its resources, aligned purpose and values, excellent reputation and experience with a similar, locally based facility
Safeguards remained in place to protect the tenure of all residents
All staff were made offers of continued employment under no less favorable conditions
Thanks to CBA’s seamless project management, the service continued with minimal disruption
